What benefits are available to you?

As a veteran, there are a number of benefits available at the local, state, and federal levels.

Through the Muskegon County Department of Veteran Affairs, up to $500 of aid is available for immediate emergency needs such as:

  • Payment of a small utility bill
  • Minor car repairs
  • Groceries

Through the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, grants make funds available for emergency needs to help veterans and their families weather short-term financial crises:

  • Home repairs
  • Medical bills
  • Larger utility bills or other expenses

Through the United States Department of Veteran Affairs, the Veterans Benefits Administration provides benefits and long-term resources for veterans and their families after their time of service is over.

  • Home loans and housing grants
  • Healthcare
  • GI Bill and educational scholarships, along with on-the-job training programs and other Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment services.
